Here's a new interview,nice picture.

http://www.zhizn.ru/article/culture/12165/

to paraphrase(the free translators don't do the best job)

he's 28 but the number doesn't bother him. He's back on the market.Has dated some of the most beautiful girls on the planet.Asked him about his early childhood, how he came to skate.About his parents divorce, does he remember his dad.He said no basically. That his Dad moved to Germany, and that he called him after the Olympics but never called again.Says his Mom never remarried but has someone in her life and he is fine with him.
Asked him about his breakup, why he never marries the girls...he said he is too stubborn in relationships. He does not want kids right now and does not want to get married. He likes his freedom. He likes to give gifts to his "girls" bought various things for the various ones, some liked cards, some dinner, some stuffed animals...He's had his heart broken before. And as far as his recent ex,he says  they won't be getting back together.

Thanks for this Andrea.  I had seen it but hadn't had time to read it properly.  As you say, the free-translator's are the best or easiest to read.

Its good to hear his Mum has someone in her life.

Alexei has certainly changed his stance on marriage/kids since returning to Russia.  I think I did read somewhere him saying he was lonely/missed family life when he was based in the US, hence his talk of wanting a wife.  He seems very comfortable in his surroundings and with himself.  Many Russian's do marry early but I think this is down to living circumstances where it is difficult for most single people to affords their own places.  28 is no age at all!

Well, I think with the whole marriage/kids thing, right now he travels so much that ,it'd be hard to have a wife/ family and not be there all the time.

and 28 is not old at all...I'm 27 and I honestly don't consider myself old lol.

With the translation things, sometimes they don't translate all the words so you are left with gaps in a sentence.

sometimes the translations are bizarre..I've even had a few that were a bit rude!!

There is quite a good 'proper' translation site.  It has the interview you posted.  This link should take you to the home page.  If not, there is a simple link on the page called 'Home'.

thankyou Sharon, that translation is a bit more clear.

I have to say having read this clearer version of the interview that I think some of the interviewers questions,  diving  into things that could be potentialy uncomfortable for him to talk about,it was a bit too invasive and not in good taste IMO.

However on the upside, atleast it was accompanied by a good photograph.:)

Thanks, Andrea and Sharon :)

I think it can be very hard for skaters who tour to make marriage work.  Scott Hamilton talked publicly about how he had tried to have a serious romantic relationship while still touring, and it just did not last.  Ultimately, he was able to settle down after he had stopped touring; I think he was about 40 at the time.  Married skaters can manage to fit in occasional shows, but working in real tours is not very compatible with traditional family life, if there are children in the family.  We see what happened to Yevgeny Plyushchenko's marriage.  Sometimes it is better to wait until one can stay home for long periods of time.  That method seems to have worked well for both Scott Hamilton and Kurt Browning.  I think Kurt gave up touring so that he could be home with his family.
