So Brian Joubert is not competing in this event? I heard that he is currently not well and has suspended competition for the moment.:\ Is it just me? or does Trophee Eric Bompard just sound rather strange in comparison to Trophee Lalique?

Yes, I found out after posting the entries, that Brian is really quite ill.

This is page 2 of a thread about it at Goldenskate:

<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START-->www.goldenskate.com/forum...074&page=2<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

Page 2 has the latest information about his illness, in Ximena's post, with the initial data on page 1.

Here is a part of Ximena's post:

"Gailhaguet said that Brian has a virus that paralyses him, that his pressure is weak and that his heartbeats are quite fast and that the doctors have told him that he needs to rest for ten days."

The whole thread is well worth reading. There is a post by gsk8 on page 1 that gives a statement by Brian in English, that begins with these heartbreaking words: "It is with death in my soul that I announce my withdrawal from Trophée Bompard today."

I feel for Brian; he has worked and waited so long, and now this...I can only hope that he will be healed in time for Euros...bonne chance, Brian...

P.S. TEB has begun, a little while ago, about 8 a.m. ET, with the Austrian Waltz CD, and Group 1 has skated:

Oh my goodness - I hadn't realized how serious Brian's condition is. Thank you Lina for providing this information. I dearly hope that he recovers very soon....<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :( -->:(<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

I just want to say, having gotten to watch TEB on TV, that I am very impressed by Patrick Chan! I wanted to post this sooner, but just did not get to it. He had already made quite an impression on me at Skate America, and I look for good things from him in the future. I have not yet gotten to see Kevin Reynolds perform, as ESPN mostly shows only those near the top in scores, but, having read the descriptions of his athletic prowess, I look forward to getting to see him on TV eventually.

I think Canada has really gotten something going for it in the Men's! I enjoy watching Patrick; he is athletic, and his style is so pure! I love that. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D -->:D<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> To think, he is only 16 now! I remember how Alexei stood out athletically when he was still quite young; I used to say it was as if he had a gyroscope inside him lol.

When the guys hit 17 or 18, their bodies change a lot, so it is impossible to tell what to expect, but the great ones make the adjustment and continue to amaze as they did when they were still boys. When first I saw Alexei perform, he was 16, too. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) -->;)<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> He was a standout, too. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) -->;)<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> You couldn't miss it.

As to the quad, I am not a great appreciator of the quad toe; I had much rather see a fine triple axel in competition. Patrick skates like one who has worked very hard, so I imagine he will get a quad into his performances in the long run, but I am in no hurry for that lol. I enjoy watching him, as he is, right now, and I can foresee only enjoying him even more, as time goes on.

Hop to:
