RE:Alexei's Book -

Thanks, Karenna, for posting the link to this 'teaser' excerpt from Alexei's book, Russian edition. I had a good laugh thinking about Kyoko having a snit fit over the mattress and pillows stuffed with hay, LOL. The culture shock for her would most probably have been total, LOL. I would rather unroll my sleeping bag on a hay mattress than sleep on the floor any day! From the sounds of it the Yagudin dacha is fairly primitive and for someone such as Kyoko, who has grown up with all the comforts of an American home, that whole experience would have been over-the-top in a negative way. I've read a lot of comments from various people who have either read that article or seen a translation of it, and many are appalled that Alexei would reveal this sort of information, at all. For myself, I'm sitting on the fence with this, LOL. I can see the positives and negatives for both sides of the issue. How would a Russian person feel about someone, with whom they had a very personal relationship, revealing any details about it much later after that relationship was over? Do they simply chalk it up to fate or is there unspoken animosity there? Mary C.
