Please forgive me--it's hard to talk  about this; I just heard it on the TV as I was typing in Alexei's section. 

 

U.S. skater, Christopher Bowman, often called "Bowman the Showman", dead at 40 today.  I think they said it was caused by a drug overdose.  Bowman had had problems with drugs in the past, I believe.  This is so saddening.  I never got to see him skate, but I did get to see him do commentating on TV for a while; I remember he married and had a baby, and then, as the market for skating on TV shrank, I did not see him on TV any more.  This is very saddening news.

 

I hope some channel will honor him with a retrospective of his skating.

This is such sad news Lina.  Christopher Bowman had so many significant drug problems in the past and personal  issues which overshadowed his  figure skating career lately.  I had heard the news of his untimely death this morning on CNN where much of his past difficulties were discussed.  Thankfully, they did show film clips of his early exuberance and skill as a figure skater - that is what I will choose to remember of him.
